Turmeric

Ayurveda (Indian Traditional Medicine) doesn’t recommend seeping turmeric and then extracting it (like in a tea bag) because it takes far too long for those beneficial constituents to be extracted and absorbed into the water.

Instead, try adding turmeric to warmed milk, and drinking all of it or start adding turmeric to your meals while you cook.

If you like the taste of turmeric tea, go for it! Just knowing it’s not a way to get those anti-inflammatory benefits.

How to get Turmeric:

  • Syracuse Residents can find whole turmeric at the Indian Bazaar in Dewitt.

  • Most grocery stores sell ground turmeric in the spice isle.

  • Curcumin* is a supplement available at most vitamin stores. It’s said to have 16x the potency of turmeric and could be an excellent daily supplement for those looking to reduce inflammation along with a host of other benefits!

I'll do a separate post on curcumin.*
